Celtic: Fans call on club to delete tweet about Odsonne Edouard

Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard has continued his exceptional start to his France under-21 career with two more goals in last night’s 5-0 thrashing of Azerbaijan in qualification for the 2021 European finals.

He needed less than two minutes to open the scoring in Calais and added another in the 36th minute, with the home side scoring three more in a comprehensive victory. [via UEFA.com]

As noted by @CelticFC on Twitter, Edouard has now hit six goals in just three appearances for the French under-21 side.

It maintained his record of hitting a double in every game for the France under-21s, having also scored twice on his debut against Albania and struck two more against Czech Republic last month. [via TransferMarkt]

The 21-year-old has been very prolific in his time at Celtic, with nine goals to his name already this season and 42 in total across 98 appearances for the club.

Just this week, Football Insider reported that the Hoops were set to offer Edouard a new £30,000-a-week deal to fend off other suitors, with the Daily Mail claiming that Napoli were lining up a £30m swoop.

Borussia Dortmund (Sky.de, via Sport Witness), Lyon (Football Insider) and Monaco (L’Equipe, via Sport Witness) had also reportedly shown various levels of interest in the forward in recent months, and these Celtic fans on Twitter jokingly asked the club’s social media team not to be trumpeting his excellent form:
