A post on Twitter by a Celtic fan page has got a lot of the Hoops fanbase talking about former player Chris Morris and his career at the club.
The defender signed for the Scottish side in 1987, and managed to make 199 appearances for the club before leaving in 1992, per thecelticwiki. He enjoyed a great career at Paradise, scoring nine goals along the way as well as picking up two Scottish Cup titles and one league trophy.
He also had a great period in international football as he made 35 appearances for Ireland, including the 1990 World Cup where he was part of the historic side that made their debut in the renowned tournament, via soccer-ireland.
He will be remembered fondly by fans of the Celts and by many future generations as he was part of the club’s centenary squad. He holds the very impressive statistic of being the only player who took park in all of the side’s 55 competitive fixtures during the centenary season, per thecelticwiki.
Would Morris get into the modern day squad?
Here is what fans had to say following the tweet:
Chris Morris arrived at Celtic in July 1987 as a unknown and relatively inexpensive signing.

Nope… Had a great centenary season but we’ve had better players who are remembered less fondly than Morris.
Never fancied him

Always remember he had the priceless⭐️ alongside John Collins and Paul McStay in the first SENSIBLE SOCCER game therefore, he was good!

Very quick as I recall. Best moment was his run on to Maestro’s through ball and setting up Frankie boy for that goal vs Oldco.

He was our CSC’s PotY in the centenary season – I remember he sang Athenry and think he may have been responsible for it taking off – can’t remember hearing it before then, though may be my memory, but he must have been GoH and sing it at a lot of CSCs that season.

At Johnstone CSC end of season night in centenary season. Morris was the guest, & we watched Celtic v Spurs. Cracking night that, & Morris was a favourite of mine in that team too. 🍀
