Celtic: Fans delighted with news of likely signing of Fraser Forster

Fraser Forster looks set to return to Celtic as the goalkeeper is undergoing a medical at the club today ahead of a proposed transfer.

The Sun reported that a deal has been agreed with Southampton to bring the 31-year-old back to Celtic five years after he left the club and he will have a medical today, with the news being relayed by @CelticBible on Twitter.

Forster initially joined Celtic on loan from Newcastle in 2010 before the move became permanent two years later.

He won three Premiership titles and two Scottish Cups with the club before moving to Southampton in August 2014 in a deal worth £10m, according to BBC.

He has played 125 times for the Saints in five years but fell out of favour in recent times, making just one first team appearance last season.

Assuming there are no late hitches to stop the move from being completed, it should provide a timely boost to Neil Lennon’s goalkeeping options.

Scott Bain and Craig Gordon are the only two ‘keepers in Celtic’s first team squad and, as reported by The Sun, the former is currently sidelined with a dislocated thumb.

These Celtic supporters took to Twitter to voice their approval for Forster’s likely return to the club:
