Celtic: Fans discuss Darius Wdowczyk following tweet - Celtic

A post on Twitter by a fan of the Hoops has got a lot of Celtic supporters talking about former defender Darius Wdowczyk and debating how good he was at the club.

The ex-Polish international left-back was an experienced defender and the club signed him in November 1989 from Legia Warsaw in a £400,000 deal, per thecelticwiki.

question mark

How many goals did Chris Sutton score for the club?

Sadly he did not manage to win any trophies during his five years at the club, via Transfermarkt, however a player is not just defined by his medal collection and the defender had a great career for Celtic, Warsaw and Reading before his retirement.

He made 142 appearances for the side as full-back, per thecelticwiki, whilst managing to pick up six goals during his career. Fan St.Anthony clearly thought he had a good impact in the side, but had his weaknesses too as he said: “Technically fine player with a great left foot but very fragile up against any physical presence.”

Was Darius Wdowczyk a good player at the club?

These thoughts weren’t reciprocated by all of the Celts fanbase, but something that many seemed to agree on was the fact that he was a lethal set-piece taker, as one said: “Those inswinging corners curled in at pace were lethal – MON’s team with Larsson, Sutton, Hartson, Balde, Mjallby & Joos would’ve scored a barrowload from them”.

Clearly the 53-time Polish international, who also played in the 1986 World Cup, per thecelticwiki, did leave some fond memories at the club.

Here is what fans had to say following the tweet:
