Celtic have posted an article on Twitter which looks back at football greats who have played against the club at Celtic Park, and many fans have a lot of appreciation for the player they are currently discussing, Andrea Pirlo.
The Italian maestro has played multiple times against the Celts whilst playing for AC Milan and Juventus, with both coming up against the Scottish side in the Champions League, via Celtic FC.
One of those appearances was when he battled it out against the side in 2007 but the game remained 0-0 at the end of the first leg, with AC Milan winning the return fixture 3-1 and eventually going on to win the competition that campaign, via UEFA.com.
Fans of the Hoops seem the appreciate the quality the World Cup winning playmaker had, per Transfermarkt, as they praised the centre midfielder following the tweet, and it seems like Pirlo also had great respect for the club as the site have a quote from him which said: “Celtic belong in the Champions League. It is not just the quality of player they have but everything they represent as a club. Their history, their fans, the stadium – it’s clubs like this that make the Champions League great.”, via Celtic FC.
