Celtic fans were left discussing Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink’s strike against their Old Firm rivals, which revived the Hoops’ chances of lifting the Scottish Premiership title.
Heading into stoppage time with the scores level, the old foes were seconds away from heading out of Celtic Park with a 1-1 draw and a three-point lead in the race for the league crown. However, the Dutch forward had other ideas as he headed home the winning goal in the 93rd minute after a flick-on Scott McDonald and a floated cross from Gary Caldwell (via SPFL).
One fan labelled it an ‘underrated’ finish.

It proved to be a crucial strike for Gordon Strachan’s men, who would later go on to lift their third successive top-flight title. Despite notching up 33 goals in 89 games for Celtic, the last-minute winner was the retired forward’s only-ever strike against the rivals (via Transfermarkt). Supporters remembered the goal with great fondness as they took to Twitter to react. Here are some of the reactions:
Remember absolutely berating Caldwell for that ball when he hit it, little did I know
