Celtic: Fans feel Rafael Scheidt was one of the strangest signings at the club

Share

Many Celtic fans have been replying to a tweet asking what the strangest signing the club has made is, with plenty saying that is is former player Rafael Scheidt.

The defender was signed by the club for around £6.48 million in 1999 from Brazilian side Gremio, per Transfermarkt, and made two appearances for the Scottish side.

He was shipped out on loan to Corinthians before returning to Brazil permanently in 2003, leaving Celtic Park to join Atletico Mineiro.

Clearly the Brazilian league was his level and fans of the Hoops have not been shy to criticise the player following the tweet by Celtic1967.com, with one calling the centre-back a “total disaster.”

The club will look back at the transfer as a waste of money whilst most fans will probably have forgotten who he is. At the age of 44, per Transfermarkt, the Brazilian is now enjoying his retirement.
