Celtic: Fans hail James Forrest after vital contribution in win at Aberdeen

A number of Celtic fans showed their appreciation for James Forrest after a post from Hoops fan @Moravcik67_ on Twitter highlighting his contribution on Sunday.
The 28-year-old provided the assist for Kristoffer Ajer’s late winning goal against Aberdeen and was also involved in the first goal, his initial shot rebounding off Joe Lewis into the path of scorer Callum McGregor. He was deprived of another assist in the closing minutes after Odsonne Edouard failed to convert his cross. [via Sky Sports]
James Forrest. On the fringes for much of the game, but made it count when involved. He could have had 4 assists
1. Shot that led to our 1st goal
2. Brilliant ball to the back post that was begging for a finish
3. Setup Ajer for the goal
4. Setup Edouard for his sitter— Moravcik67 (@Moravcik67_) February 16, 2020
Nonetheless, Forrest still has 20 assists for the season, more than anyone else in Neil Lennon’s squad, as well as netting 16 goals. He has 89 goals and 90 assists in 390 appearances for the club and has been involved in a goal (either scoring or assisting) in five of Celtic’s six matches since the winter break. However, the Scotland winger was criticised by some Hoops fans following the recent win at Motherwell and also came under fire over his performance in the Glasgow derby at the end of December.
Following his performance at Pittodrie, though, these Celtic fans on Twitter were keen to give credit to the 28-year-old, who was described as “priceless” by one supporter:
He’s priceless man, absolutely crucial to us.

Assist after assist after assist. Goal after goal after goal. James wins us game. Who cares if hes not beating ten men to do it. He gets the job done.

Where would we be without him, immensely important player.

That’s Forrest’s speciality, he’s a match winner, people get on his back nearly every week but his stats in the least few seasons so that he is an incredibly important player.

Never understand the stick he gets, amount of important goals and assists he gets is incredible

He always is involved I don’t know what more he needs to do to get some people off his back.

The same lad gets dogs abuse from some supporters, baffles me. He’s as dedicated as they come and works as hard as anyone.
