Plenty of Celtic fans reacted with satisfaction to the draw that they were handed for the quarter-finals of the Scottish Cup.
The club’s official Twitter channel @CelticFC informed supporters that the Hoops will be away to St Johnstone in the next round of the competition after defeating Clyde 3-0 on Sunday to advance to the last eight.
Neil Lennon’s men are bidding to win the Scottish Cup for the fourth season in succession, having not been on the losing side in the tournament since their penalty shoot-out defeat to Rangers in 2016, and they have an excellent recent record against the Perth-based outfit.
The teams’ two meetings this season have ended in 7-0 and 3-0 wins for Celtic, the latter coming at McDiarmid Park two weeks ago when all three goals were scored in the first 26 minutes, while the Hoops have won the last seven matches between the teams and are on a 14-match unbeaten run in games between the pair. Although ex-Celtic striker Chris Sutton has predicted a tricky visit to Tommy Wright’s team on the weekend of February 29th and March 1st (as per scottishfa.co.uk), these Hoops fans on Twitter seemed quite happy to be drawn against the Saints:
