As reported by the Daily Record, the 28-year-old Israel international is keen on staying in Glasgow but, with his current deal set to expire at the end of the season, he conceded that his future at the club is out of his hands, saying: “It’s something you need to ask Peter Lawwell instead of me.”

He also expressed his affection for Celtic and Glasgow by saying: “I love this club and I want to stay. I am settled here, my kids live here, so we will see” (via Daily Record), with those quotes shared by @CelticSoccrShow on Twitter.

Bitton has been with the Hoops since 2013 and racked up 200 appearances following Sunday’s Betfred Cup final win over Rangers.

A midfielder for most of his career, he has shown his versatility this season by often playing at centre-back, although he has only started five Premiership games so far in 2019/20.

However, he came into the season recovering from a knee injury which ruled him out of action for almost a whole year, as per The Scottish Sun.

These Celtic fans on Twitter were appreciative of Bitton’s comments and his contribution to the club and have called for him to be given a new deal at Parkhead:
