Plenty of Celtic fans were gushing about the performance of midfielder Olivier Ntcham on Wednesday night, with the Frenchman’s early goal setting the Hoops on their way to a comfortable victory.
The 23-year-old needed just six minutes to open the scoring against St Johnstone, left all on his own to get his head to James Forrest’s cross and steer the ball beyond Zander Clark, the first of three Hoops goals in the opening half-hour as they ultimately triumphed 3-0. [via Sky Sports]
Ntcham, who scored his third league goal of the season and his sixth in all competitions this term, had reportedly been in advanced talks with West Ham about a possible move (according to Foot Mercato), but the Daily Record subsequently claimed that Celtic dismissed such rumours as “agent talk”.
The midfielder’s performance was commended by some reporters after the game, with Amy Canavan of Read Celtic saying that he was “good in possession and had a solid performance” and Hamish Carton of 67hailhail.com writing: “His header was emphatic and so was a lot of his display prior to the break.”
These Celtic fans on Twitter were also impressed by Ntcham’s display in the win at McDiarmid Park, with one insisting that he is the best midfielder currently playing in Scotland:
