Celtic: Fans pleased with appointment of Nick Hammond as Head of Football Operations

Celtic have appointed Nick Hammond as their new Head of Football Operations, with the news announced on the club’s official website celticfc.net and then shared on Twitter via @CelticFC.

As noted by The Scottish Sun, the 52-year-old had been working in a consultancy role involving recruitment at the club since June following the departure of predecessor Lee Congerton to team up with ex-Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers at Leicester.

Hammond takes up his new permanent role with immediate effect and will work alongside first team manager Neil Lennon regarding the recruitment of players for the club, as per celticfc.net.

He has already had an effect at Celtic over the last few months, with the Hoops bringing in 11 players either on loan or permanently during the summer transfer window, including Christopher Jullien, Boli Bolingoli, Hatem Abd Elhamed, Fraser Forester, Mohamed Elyounoussi and Moritz Bauer. In addition to those regular first team names, the club also recruited young talents such as Luca Connell and Jonathan Afolabi with a view to fleshing out the squad and taking a long-term perspective.
