A lot of Celtic fans praised former boss Gordon Strachan after the club tweeted that it was 15 years ago today that the Scotsman became manager of the Hoops.
Strachan had a fine record whilst in charge at the club, winning 132 games out of the 203 he managed, via Fitbastats. This ranks him in the top 10 managers at the club when it comes to highest percentage of wins, with his 65.02% placing him sixth in the all-time list.
Did Strachan do a good job at Celtic?
He also won three league titles, one Scottish Cup and two Scottish League trophies during his four years in charge, per Transfermarkt, highlighting how successful a career he had at the Hoops.
Clearly fans of the Celts remember how good he was at the club, as they took to Twitter to praise the 63-year-old, with one saying that “he did a fantastic job whilst cutting the wage bill”. He was in charge of the club during a very hard period financially when they had massive debts, per The Guardian, and just like the fan said, he did his job commendably under such challenging fiscal circumstances, managing to reduce the wage bill substantially.
Here is what these Hoops fans said following the club’s tweet:
Brilliant manager for us and never says a bad word about the club. 🍀
