Celtic fans were praising Jock Stein on the anniversary of the legendary figure’s appointment as manager of the club.
On this day 55 years ago, Stein took over from Jim McGrory and went on to have a monumental impact for the Glasgow outfit. The Scotsman won a mammoth 509 games from 728 fixtures, losing a mere 102. However, his time is best remembered for the incredible number of trophies he won at Celtic Park (via Soccerbase).
One fan labelled him a ‘world-renowned legend’.

The former Dunfermline Athletic man won a staggering 26 major honours, including the 1966/1967 European Cup. It was the first time the side lifted the continental title and Celtic remain the only Scottish side to have won it (via Transfermarkt).
