Celtic’s official Twitter account @CelticFC posted birthday greetings to the club’s midfielder Kundai Benyu, who turns 22 today.
Two of those four appearances came as a substitute, which led many Celtic fans to react to the tweet by calling for him to get a game under Neil Lennon.
The reason why Benyu has not played for the Hoops since August 2017 is quite straightforward – he has been out on loan twice, firstly to Oldham for the second half of the 2017/18 season and then to Helsingborgs since February on a year-long deal. According to Transfermarkt, the Zimbabwe international is not due to return to Parkhead until the end of January.
The midfielder may have fallen out of favour at Celtic but his performances for Helsingborgs still earned him glowing praise from their former manager and Hoops legend Henrik Larsson, as per Daily Record.
These Celtic fans on Twitter responded to the club’s tweet by alluding to his scarcity of Hoops appearances, with some hoping for him to have featured in their final Europa League game, seemingly unaware that Benyu isn’t currently with the club:
Tell Ntcham to give Benyu the captains armband for tonight as a present.

Should Celtic re-sign Victor Wanyama?
