Celtic fans react to Mikael Lustig’s Scottish League Cup display

Celtic supporters have been pretty downbeat in recent times after seeing their side suffer a second Scottish Premiership defeat of the season on Sunday.

Brendan Rodgers’ men went into their encounter with Kilmarnock off the back of beating Rosenborg in their opening Europa League group stage clash on Thursday night, and thus seeking to keep their winning streak going. And things looked good when Leigh Griffiths netted the opener in the first half, only for goals from Chris Burke and Stuart Findley to seal a 2-1 success for Steve Clarke’s men, thus seeing the Bhoys slip to sixth place in the Scottish Premiership table.

Consequently, there have been many disappointed and frustrated Celtic fans up and down the country in recent times, several of whom have taken to Twitter to slate the efforts of defender Mikael Lustig in their Scottish League Cup clash at St Johnstone on Wednesday night.

The 31-year-old made the move to Parkhead back in 2012 and has since been a great servant to the Scottish giants, appearing 243 times in all competitions for the Bhoys, in which time he has helped them to seven successive league titles, and a whole host of other domestic honours.

And the right back was given the nod by manager Rodgers for their trip to St Johnstone on Wednesday night, only for the £2.93 million-rated Sweden international (as per Transfermarkt) to struggle greatly against the fellow top-flight side, thus prompting an angry response from plenty of Celtic fans on Twitter…
