Celtic: Fans recall Harald Brattbakk on anniversary of him joining the Hoops

Celtic signed Norwegian striker Harald Brattbakk 22 years ago yesterday, a landmark that was noted by @CelticLisboaa on Twitter.

The anniversary tweet included a video clip of a rather memorable goal that he scored at the end of the 1997/98 season, his first at the club.

Brattbakk, who cost the Hoops £2.3m in December 1997 (as per The Irish Times), scored Celtic’s second goal in a 2-0 win over St Johnstone that clinched the league title in 1998 and prevented their crosstown rivals from winning 10 titles in a row (as per The Scottish Sun).

He also scored all four goals in a 4-0 win over Kilmarnock in the same year, although he ended up with just 12 goals in 44 league appearances for the Hoops, with Derek McGregor writing in The Scottish Sun that “overall he flopped in Paradise”.

Indeed, Brattbakk came back to haunt his former club by scoring against them in a Champions League clash in 2001, as per The Scottish Sun.

However, these Celtic fans on Twitter fondly recalled the day of his title-winning goal against St Johnstone on the 22-year anniversary of his arrival in Glasgow:
