Celtic have posted a tweet remembering the club’s founder Brother Walfrid, who was born on this day in 1840, and a lot of fans duly feel that their latest Premiership triumph has fallen on a very appropriate day.
In 1887, Walfrid helped to found Celtic as a ‘means of raising funds for the poor and deprived in the east end of Glasgow in Scotland’, as per thecelticwiki, sowing the seeds for decades of success in Scotland and a European Cup triumph in 1967.
Some Celtic fans made the connection between his birthday and today’s news that the club have been awarded their ninth league title in a row, as per STV News, with one supporter believing that the “stars are aligned”.
With football postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic, the SPFL have decided to end the 2019/20 Premiership season with leaders Celtic declared as champions, as per Sky Sports.
