Celtic: Fans reminisce over 2016 clash with Old Firm rivals

Celtic fans have been reminiscing on the 2016 Old Firm derby, a classic encounter between the Hoops and their old foes which saw the side in green and white notch up a massive win.
The Celtic Park team thrashed their fierce rivals 5-1 with Moussa Dembele scoring a hat-trick in his very first taste of the match. Scott Sinclair and Stuart Armstrong were also among the goals as Brendan Rodgers’ men handed their Glasgow opponents a heavy defeat. The Frenchman’s goals made him the first man to score a hat-trick in the famous fixture for 50 years (via BBC).
One fan called it a ‘masterclass’.

It was at the start of an absolutely sensational season which saw the Scottish giants lift their first of three consecutive trebles. The Celtic Park drubbing was the first of two huge victories that season with the Scottish champions beating their rivals by the same scoreline in April 2017. Supporters were full of memories of the famous day as they took to Twitter to react to the game. Here are a selection of tweets:

Brought my 11 year old son to this game. His first Rangers match. What a day. What memories. He’ll remember for the rest of his life. And in true Celtic fashion he’ll take his son, God willing, when that time comes. Always Celtic 🍀.
