Celtic defender Jack Hendry has reportedly drawn interest from several English clubs ahead of the January transfer window.
Football Insider reported that there is interest from “plenty of EFL clubs” in the 24-year-old centre-back, who has struggled for game-time with the Hoops this season.
According to Football Insider, Celtic manager Neil Lennon is open to loaning out the defender and may be willing to let him leave on a permanent deal, even though his current contract at the club runs until summer 2022.
Football Insider had reported in September that Hendry was primed to leave Celtic on loan to Kilmarnock for the season just before the summer transfer window closed, but the same outlet subsequently claimed that the defender rejected the proposed move.
His only involvement with the first team all season was an 11-minute substitute appearance in the 5-0 Betfred Cup win over Partick Thistle nearly two months ago – he hasn’t even made a matchday squad for any of Celtic’s other games so far in 2019/20. [via TransferMarkt]

Can Celtic sign Mohamed Elyounoussi permanently?
Indeed, even with Jozo Simunovic a long-term injury casualty and Kristoffer Ajer also missing the derby win over Rangers due to a knee problem, the 24-year-old still hasn’t been able to get close to a first team appearance.
Hendry’s Celtic career has stalled under Lennon, with seemingly little hope of the 24-year-old ever being given a fair chance to make an impression on his manager, who had given the go-ahead for the defender to leave on loan to Kilmarnock (as per Football Insider) before the player turned down the move.
If an English suitor can approach the Hoops with an enticing offer for Hendry in the winter transfer window, his exit from the club seems inevitable. It would likely be in the interest of all parties, with the player getting a fresh start elsewhere and Celtic clearing his wages off their expenditure.
Celtic fans, do you think the club should sell Hendry if a suitable offer comes in for him in January? Give us your views in the comments section below!
