Celtic: Spiers’ title comments haven’t gone down well online

Journalist Graham Spiers attracted attention on Twitter for claiming that there is the possibility of a genuine title race this season despite the league only being eight games old in earnest.

For years we have craved a genuine title race in Scotland. Could this be it?

Celtic have dropped points in their last two league games and Rangers have obviously leap-frogging the Parkhead club to claim top spot in the Scottish Premiership.
Still, perhaps it should be remembered that in the two games that the Bhoys have dropped points in, the pattern of the match has been far from typical.
At Easter Road against Hibernian, Celtic could easily have had two penalties, on another day they leave the capital with all three points. At Livingston, Ryan Christie was sent off for a tackle described as ‘stupid’ by some fans online.
Spiers may yet be proven right but with just eight games played, these Celtic fans reminded him of an all too familiar story from recent seasons.
I’m screenshotting everything. Lessons clearly not learned from last year by anyone….ridiculous!!
