It seems like Celtic will attempt to sign attacker Gyrano Kerk in the summer, following comments from Utrecht manager John van den Brom.
According to the Daily Record, the manager said: “At this moment there are no actual concrete offers for Gyrano, but Celtic were the club most interested. I think the transfer window will be extended to September this year. And when that happens I think there will be a lot of interest in Gyrano again. We are expecting that.”
The 24-year-old has had a very impressive campaign in the Eredivisie, playing 24 games in the division whilst scoring 10 goals and picking up eight assists, per Transfermarkt. He is valued at £3.6m by TransferMarkt.
Would Kerk be a good signing?
On average, he manages 2.1 shots per game and 1.4 key passes, whilst also completing on average three successful dribbles a game, per WhoScored. This highlights how much of an attacking threat he brings to his team and also illustrates his confidence on the ball, an asset which managers and fans would surely crave.
With news last week suggesting that Celtic will not pursue a permanent deal for current loanee Mohammed Elyounoussi unless Southampton lower their price tag, per Football Insider, Kerk could be the ideal winger to come in instead.
Given his potential and low market valuation, there is no reason as to why the Hoops shouldn’t try to sign Kerk and it will be interesting to see what happens when the transfer window opens.
