Celtic haven’t been their normal selves in the current campaign as they currently find themselves trailing in the race for the Scottish Premiership title.
The Hoops appear to be losing their way under Brendan Rodgers, and the recent speculation surrounding a potential move to Newcastle United certainly won’t help.
Of course, there’re a couple of things that need to change in order for the Glasgow side to really push on to try and reclaim their familiar position at the top of the tree.
Brendan Rodgers’ side could definitely do with bringing in a number of players to freshen things up and strengthen in what will be a long, tiring Scottish Premiership campaign. So, the Northern Irishman should already have his eyes on potential additions, with competition for places possibly hotting up at Parkhead.
With that in mind, here’s a look at Celtic’s potential new line-up after January…
CELTIC’S POTENTIAL POST-JANUARY LINE-UP
Craig Gordon has been very effective in-between the sticks for the Hoops so far this season, with match-winning saves becoming a regular thing.
Mikael Lustig is one of the more experienced members in the side and this has certainly benefited them at times this season, with the very promising Kieran Tierney on the opposite flank. Also, Dedryck Boyata has really kicked on and developed his game so far this season, but Rodgers shouldn’t hesitate to strengthen at the heart of the defence by bringing in impressive Aberdeen defender Scott McKenna, who was linked during the summer.
Scott Brown has really set the tone in the middle of midfield this season, with his dogged approach and no nonsense mentality really benefiting the Hoops at times. Also, Olivier Ntcham has been his excellent self in the current campaign, with a number of goals to his name in all competitions.
Celtic could really do with some inspiration and added quality in their attacking line of three, so Rodgers should think about bringing in former Manchester United midfielder Nick Powell, who has been one of the standout performers in the English Championship this season and has been linked with a move to Parkhead. Meanwhile, Callum McGregor will be pushed out to the left-hand side and James Forrest will look to contribute from the right.
Lastly, Leigh Griffiths is close to making the striker position his own at Parkhead having enjoyed a rich vein of goalscoring form prior to the international break, so Rodgers should look to keep his faith in the Scotsman.
