Yet another week of Rangers being the thorn in Celtic’s side, the Bhoys are made to wait even longer to lift the Scottish Premiership title. With a trip away to Aberdeen later today, Neil Lennon will just want to keep the wins rolling and end the season on the highest of highs.
Indeed, Celtic are really being frustrated by Steven Gerrard’s Rangers side. However, with all the frustration they know that sooner or later they will have the Premiership trophy in their hands once again. A trip to Pittodrie, however, is no easy task, and Neil Lennon will be well aware that after a poor showing from Aberdeen last week, they will come out with the intention to ruin any Celtic celebrations.
Rotation in the squad is key towards the end of a long season, Lennon will be well aware that changes are needed, here’s a couple we feel he should look to make.
Drop James Forrest
Despite his side winning last weekend, James Forrest really looked off the pace for most of the game before being brought off with about ten minutes to go. It was an unusual performance from the 27-year-old as throughout the entirety of the season the Scottish winger as proven to be one of the stand out players in Celtic’s ranks.
However, after last week, it may be evident that after making so many appearances this season, it may be time to have a rest so that he is fully fit for the remaining games in the season.
Last week was simply not good enough.
Start Jonny Hayes
After making a cameo appearance last week against Kilmarnock, Lennon may look to the experienced head of Jonny Hayes for the battle against Aberdeen later today. After the performance of Forrest last week it would be no surprise to see the 31-year-old fill the space on the right of midfield later today and push to keep a spot in the side for the remainder of the season.
Lennon will be aware that three points later today and the title will officially be theirs, this is the game all Celtic fans have been waiting for.
