The Celtic fans in the Transfer Tavern can see no reason as to why the club won’t win their sixth league title in a row.
Indeed, the Bhoys in the bar believe it would take the most embarrassing slip-up in Scottish footballing history to see Brendan Rodgers not lift the title again in May, much to the delight of the green and white cause.
As much of an achievement as it is, comments from a former Hoops star have proven rather interesting. According to former Celtic man Lubo Moravcik, their constant title wins have been devalued by Rangers’ fall.
With quotes sourced by the Scottish Sun, the Slovakian stated that life is much easier without their Old Firm rivals being as strong as they were a decade ago, though some of our drinkers aren’t quite as convinced.
“Without Rangers, it is much easier to get all these victories in the Scottish league”, he said.
“It is not the same without Rangers. It was a rivalry but it is not the same. Aberdeen have tried to be close to Celtic these last two or three years — but they have not been good enough.”
We’ve seen Paris Saint-Germain give up the title to Monaco last season during their era of dominance and Bayern Munich’s struggles in the Bundesliga have led to Carlo Ancelotti sacking, so perhaps a one-horse race isn’t as easy as we might think.
So, we’re asking our readers, is Moravcik right? Are Celtic’s title wins devalued without Rangers?Like what the TT have on offer? Sign up for more notifications!
