Chris Sutton believes Celtic should target Lennon if Rodgers leaves

Celtic will meet Hibernian on Saturday at Celtic Park in what has been described as a mouthwatering contest.

The Bhoys are looking to continue their charge for another domestic title, however, things have not gone to plan for Brendan Rodgers and his side this season.

There has been talk that the Northern Irishman could leave his job at some point in the near future, with him having been heavily linked with a move to Aston Villa a couple of weeks ago.

And, should he decide to quit the Hoops, Chris Sutton believes the club should look to a former legend of the club.

Writing in his column for the Daily Record, the ex-Celtic striker has stated he feels Neil Lennon should be the man to make a return.

The current Hibs boss already has a successful history with the club, having started their journey of achieving 10-in-a-row, with the club currently sitting on seven, and Sutton believes he could be the man to finish it, should the situation call for it.

The Verdict:

There is a saying that you should never go back in football and other clubs have proven that it is not something that always works.

At this time, it is difficult to know what the future holds for Rodgers at Celtic as there has been rife speculation about his position, although the majority of fans at Parkhead will likely want him to continue.

The meeting against Lennon and Hibs could prove to be a crucial turning point in the season and could have a serious impact on the Hoops achieving their target of 10 successive Scottish Premiership titles.
