Filip Benkovic lined up for Celtic loan

Celtic have lined up a trio of replacements should Dedryck Boyata complete a move away from Celtic Park this summer.

According to a report by the Daily Mail, the Bhoys have identified Leicester City’s Filip Benkovic, Aberdeen’s Scott McKenna and Harold Moukoudi of Le Harve.

It is also claimed that Boyata is still expected to move away from the Scottish Premiership champions, despite scoring the only goal of the game against Hamilton Academical on Sunday.

The Hoops have already had a bid turned down for McKenna, however, Benkovic appears to be a surprise player to target, given that he has only just joined the Foxes.

The Croatian enforcer joined the Premier League side on deadline day in a £13million deal, but Brendan Rodgers’ side are looking at a possible loan deal for him.

The Verdict:

Benkovic would appear to be an unlikely target for Celtic this summer, given that he has only just joined Leicester.

The defender is yet to feature for the Foxes, however, that could be down to the fact that he joined extremely late and is not yet up to match fitness.

With Rodgers expected to lose Boyata and there are obvious issues at the back currently, he will need to address it rather quickly, although the Croatian will unlikely be an option.
