Brendan Rodgers and Celtic may have just been handed a huge boost as the January transfer window starts to take shape.
The Bhoys will be looking to strengthen their team during the winter break after suffering a 1-0 defeat to Old Firm rivals Rangers in the final.
However, they may have just been handed some great news about a player currently at Celtic Park.
The Leicester City defender arrived on a season-long loan and has impressed, which led to rumours that he could be recalled by the Premier League side.
However, Claude Puel appears to have confirmed that the Croatian enforcer will remain in Scotland.
“We have a lot of defenders at the club,” he said.
“Assuming we don’t get any injuries, it’s better Filip maintains his loan at Celtic.”
Rodgers and Celtic will be delighted with what Puel has said about Benkovic and his chances of remaining at Celtic Park.
The defender has been a standout for the Bhoys this season and has quickly earned himself recognition as a fan favourite at Paradise.
The Hoops will be pleased that his uncertain future at the club looks to be resolved for now and can focus on trying to bring other targets to Glasgow in January.
