According to Turkish website Webaslan, via The Daily Record, out of favour Alavés striker John Guidetti is seeking a return to Celtic.
The Sweden international is struggling at the La Liga club, and is wanted by Turkish outfit Galatasaray. However, his first choice is to return to Celtic, whom he was loaned to for the 2014/15 season from Man City.
After The Bhoys lost the services of star striker Moussa Dembélé to Ligue 1 side Lyon in the summer, Brendan Rodgers failed to bring in a replacement. They were therefore left with two mainline strikers in Odsonne Edouard and Leigh Griffiths.
The Hoops have been heavily reliant on Edouard so far this campaign as he has scored seven goals in 11 league matches. However, much less can be said about Leigh Griffiths. The Scotland international has not fired thus far this season, as he has struggled for form and fitness. The fact that he has only managed one league goal so far is an accurate illustration of his struggles.
Therefore, the arrival of Guidetti would surely cause Griffiths to kick on and fight for a place. Although Edouard has been a lone striker in recent weeks, Rodgers has not been averse to sitting the Frenchman behind another striker, providing that man is on form. So far, Grffiths has not been that man, but Guidetti could be.
If Celtic want to repeat their heroics of the past few seasons, or more, they will need squad depth. Currently they look sparse if Edouard were to get injured, and Guidetti would just give that bit of assurance to Rodgers.
