For the Rangers fans who are desperate for bragging rights over their Old Firm rivals, even this may be a step too far. The Gers’ reserve side bested their Celtic counterparts 2-0 away from home, and young Glenn Middleton is the man who did the damage as he scored both goals in the second-half, temporarily putting Rangers top of the reserve league.
FULL-TIME: Celtic 0-2 Rangers

If it wasn’t for the ever-impressive Ryan Kent, the chances are that Middleton would be featuring a whole lot more under Steven Gerrard. The Gers have had a tidy first season under Stevie G and will be desperate to kick on next season and win some silverware. That could also coincide with Middleton getting more game time, as he’s surely not going to be in the reserves next season.
The last two games that the Gers have played in the reserves league have seen Glenn Middleton score four goals as they’ve beaten both Hibs and Celtic, and it seems that Middleton is just far too good to be playing in these games. For the senior side this season, the young winger has featured in 27 senior games for the club, scoring five and assisting five goals, and it seems bizarre that he’s fallen out of favour despite his form.
You can read the Gers’ thoughts on Middleton here:
Good result. Middleton scoring alot in reserves recently. Hope to see alot more of him next season @Glenn_M22

The Gers would love to see Middleton step up and feature for the seniors again before the season’s over, and will hope that he can continue his scoring form for Gerrard too.
