Celtic won’t want to miss out on the chance to secure a third successive treble under Brendan Rodgers, especially with their bitter rivals Rangers breathing down their neck.
The Hoops have been very impressive in the current campaign but they haven’t quite been able to hit top form, so supporters will definitely be expecting an improved second half of the season.
Sadly, the Glasgow side suffered a big setback on the transfer front recently, as according to The Scottish Sun, Rangers have joined the race to sign Celtic target Nick Powell.
It’s believed that Old firm rivals Rangers plan to match the offer made to Powell by Celtic, who are trying to get him to sign a pre-contract with his current deal set to run out at the end of the season.
He is able to talk to clubs outside England now after refusing to sign a new deal at Wigan Athletic.
The attacker has been one of the standout performers for the Latics once again in the current campaign, with four goals and five assists to his name at this moment in time.
Nick Powell, who is valued at £2.7 million (by Transfermarkt), could become a star in the Scottish Premiership as he has already shown that he can produce goals and assists in the Championship and League One in recent years.
However, with Rangers now entering the race to sign the attacker, it comes as a big blow for the Hoops as they could potentially lose out on securing his services, and he has the ability to harm Celtic’s silverware chances in the future if he decides to move to Ibrox.
