Heading into the January break, the Rangers fans here in the Transfer Tavern are now finally able to sit back and take stock over what’s happened so far this season. As ever for our resident Gers, it’s been quite the few months at Ibrox.
Indeed, much of Pedro Caixinha’s attempt to rebuild the Light Blues in his own image hasn’t worked, largely exemplified by the form of summer signing, Bruno Alves. Having arrived in Scotland with a big reputation, the veteran defender has struggled to get off the ground.
So, it’s barely surprising to read reports in the Daily Record of late suggesting the 36-year-old’s future is up in the air at Ibrox. Limping off against Celtic in the Old Firm, it seems his time in the SPFL could be a short-lived one.
There’s no doubt that Alves can provide quality at times, though his injury problems are already mounting up. Unlikely to be on a small wage packet, we here in the Tavern think they should cut their losses with the Euro 2016-winner this month.
Having said that, do you agree? Should Rangers stick or twist with Bruno Alves this month?
