Rangers: Fans criticise Alfredo Morelos after being booked for simulation against Kilmarnock - Rangers

Alfredo Morelos may have fired in 29 goals so far for Rangers in a prolific season but that didn’t stop him from being castigated by a number of the club’s supporters during his team’s defeat on Wednesday night.

As noted by @RangersFC on Twitter, the Colombian was shown a yellow card in the 57th minute of the 2-1 loss at Kilmarnock when referee John Beaton found him guilty of simulation as he “threw himself over” at the feet of Niko Hamalainen in the penalty area, as per PA Media [via Sky Sports].

It was a very frustrating night overall for Morelos at Rugby Park, with the 23-year-old denied his 30th goal of the season after the officials noticed a push on a Kilmarnock player, while he also struck the crossbar with an audacious lob, missed a free header from seven yards and indulged in another “ridiculous dive“.

The Ibrox Noise post-match assessment did not spare the Colombian, with verdicts of “He’s diving, whining, and he’s frankly not working very hard either” and “he was painful tonight”. Meanwhile, these Rangers fans on Twitter admonished him for the manner in which he was booked by Beaton:

Do you think Morelos had one of his worst games of the season in the defeat to Kilmarnock? Does he need to cut his simulation antics out of his game? Join in the discussion by commenting below!
