Timothy Weah has been raising a few eyebrows with his performances for Celtic over the past few weeks.
The attacker arrived from Paris Saint-Germain on a loan deal until the end of the season in the January transfer window and has made quick work in making a positive impression.
The America international has played a key role for The Bhoys in a number of games already this season and will look to do the same when they meet St. Johnstone in the Scottish Cup on Sunday – a side he registered an assist and a goal against last weekend in the Scottish Premiership.
Brendan Rodgers is one he has been extremely impressed with the player and revealed that there could be a chance of extending his stay at Parkhead beyond the summer – albeit on another temporary basis.
Speaking to the Daily Record, he said: He’s 18, so depending on how that goes, there’s maybe a possibility of extending that but I don’t like to talk too much, it’s a wee bit disrespectful to the team we bring them from because what happens is there’s a headline out there that says: ‘We want to buy…’
“The relationship is good with PSG through Odsonne Edouard and some of the other players that we have spoken about to them, so let’s see how it goes and then we’ll review it with the club and him and his family at the end of it all.
“I am sure they will take him back next pre-season and have another look and they will decide where his next stage is if it’s not there.”
Weah has been excellent for Celtic in the short time that he has been in Scotland with the current champions.
It comes as no surprise that Rodgers would like to keep him at Parkhead beyond the summer and with the relationship between the two clubs appearing to be positive, it could be a real possibility.
However, if the teenager does continue to perform as well as he currently is, then PSG may well be tempted to have him in their first-team plans from next season.
