It is only a matter of time before Neil Lennon leads Celtic to an eighth Scottish Premiership title in a row as he completes the job that Brendan Rodgers started before his departure.
Whether the Northern Irishman stays on beyond the end of the current season remains to be seen, however, a surprise name has thrown his hat into the ring as he wants to be considered for the role in the summer.
What’s the News?
According to a report by The Scottish Sun, Willy Sagnol is believed to be keen on trying his hand with management in Britain and would like to give Celtic a go.
His representative, Alex McDonald, told the newspaper: “Willy is definitely interested in the Celtic job and will apply in the summer.”
As the report eluded to, a number of names have been linked with the high-profile job thought to be available at Celtic over the past month or so.
However, Sagnol’s name is new and one that would appear to be a little strange, and if anything, a little risky for the Scottish Premiership side to think about.
Although he has had spells as the France Under-21 boss, as manager of Girondins de Bordeaux and an interim period at Bayern Munich and assisting Carlo Ancelotti, he is not experienced enough to take control of a team that are so used to winning.
Let’s not forget that Celtic are on the verge of sealing a Treble Treble and will be looking to achieve a feat of 10 Scottish top-flight titles in a row. Is Sagnol really the man to help them continue, and potentially complete, that quest? It would be hard to say he is at the moment.
If he did arrive, the former France international could have connections that may come in handy at Celtic Park in the future, however, they may want to look at a tried-and-tested manager before dipping their feet in uncharted waters.
Celtic fans, how would you feel if Sagnol was hired as the manager? Join in with the discussion below by sharing your thoughts with us.
