The West Ham United fans here in the Transfer Tavern are looking forward to the new season now that Manuel Pellegrini has been revealed as the club’s new boss. Indeed, the Chilean replaces the universally unpopular David Moyes at the helm and his appointment is seen as a coup amongst our punters clad in claret and blue.
However, though the former Manchester City boss brings a huge level of excitement with him, the Hammers’ board remains the same. In the likes of David Gold, Karren Brady and David Sullivan, the Irons are never short of frustration and recent reports suggesting cult-hero James Collins received news he would not be kept on at the club via an email only added to that.
The Welshman has given 11 years of service to the East London outfit and is adored by fans so suggestions he would not get the send off many people believe he deserves has invoked the ire of many Irons. So, you can imagine the reaction online when the club posted official confirmation that the veteran defender would depart.
