It’s not taken long for the Parkhead faithful to fall madly in love with a certain Moussa Dembele, who has been excellent since joining from Fulham in the summer.
The Hoops propping up the bar in the Transfer Tavern have watched this 20-year-old pull up trees in Scotland, including a quarter of goals against bitter rivals Rangers over the course of just two meetings.
In fact, the Frenchman became the first Bhoy to notch a league hat-trick against the Gers since 1966, much to the delight of fans filling our four walls that day.
Naturally, the 20-year-old has since been linked with big moves away from the SPFL, with a certain Manchester United reportedly keen.
As much as Brendan Rodgers is moving to restore the good times at Celtic Park, it’ll be very hard for the Scottish champions to compete with such financial powerhouses when it comes to keeping the French U20 international.
So, as cynical as it is, here are THREE potential long-term replacements.
Jason Cummings
The Hibernian forward has been in good form for former Celtic boss Neil Lennon at Easter Road, and while he’s not as fast as the Frenchman, will be a big player for Scotland in the years to come.
Certainly has the personality to play for a club the size of the Bhoys, as well as the technical skill.
Danny Ings
A left-field option, that’s for sure.
Still, Brendan Rodgers was the man who brought the England international to Liverpool last summer, though an injury has since stalled his progress on Merseyside.
On paper, he’s the perfect type of striker for the Bhoys and would represent a major coup north of the border.
Jai Quitongo
Though not naturally a centre-forward, Morton forward Jai Quitongo looks like having a bright future in the game.
Like Cummings, he’s only tested in the Scottish lower leagues, though has certainly turned in some exciting performances for the Ton.
West Ham were recently linked with a move for a man who is likely to feature for the Tartan Army in the near future.
