Celtic: Shane Duffy could return for Easter Road encounter

Celtic could be in for a huge boost as Shane Duffy could return for their Scottish Premiership clash against Hibernian.

Duffy back in Hoops XI?

There has been plenty of confusion over the past few days over the rules concerning Norway’s coronavirus protocols, as Christian Wolf disclosed on Twitter that they won’t let their players leave the country and must self-isolate for 10 days.

Kristoffer Ajer, who was likened to Brazilian legend Cafu, and Mohamed Elyounoussi are on international duty in their homeland, and their game with Israel was cancelled as a result of a positive coronavirus test from a player in the team’s hotel (via NFF).

Who made the most appearances in 2016-17?

This would mean that both players would miss their Scottish Premiership tie against Hibernian at Easter Road after the international break – but it could mean the return of one player to Neil Lennon’s side.

After an up-and-down start to his Bhoys career, Duffy could line-up in Edinburgh as Celtic look to make progress towards 10-in-a-row, should Ajer miss the game.

After stating that he is mentally strong and will not let critics affect him (cited by RTE), he could have the chance to put that to the test. Lennon sides with him on this point after describing him as “peerless” after scoring on his debut (via the Irish Times).

Transfer Tavern take

While Ajer would only be out for a short space of time, Duffy would be given the opportunity to regain his good start after completing his loan move from Brighton in the summer.

From his first seven starts, Duffy has averaged a match rating of 7.25 – only Christopher Jullien has bettered that with three games less overall (Whoscored).

The Irishman can prove once again why he made the move to Glasgow, and help his new side towards their target of 10-in-a-row.

In other news, Celtic icon pleaded with Bhoys to sign 6 ft 6 ‘monster’.
