Sheffield United want to bolster their defensive options so that they have more depth at the back, and this has seen them linked to Championship player Connor Roberts.
According to The Sun (9 August, page 60), via HITC, the club are very interested in Roberts, who plays as a right-back for Swansea City.
They have liked what they have seen so far and are ready to make a bid of around £6 million to try and tempt the Welshman to the Premier League.
It is well known that the Blades are on the lookout for a right-back, as they have been linked to Matty Cash, but their first offer for the Nottingham Forest defender, which was around £10 million, was rejected.
Roberts has made 40 appearances in the Championship this season, scoring one and picking up four assists, per WhoScored, whilst he has averaged 1.2 tackles, one interception and 2.1 clearances a game.
At the age of 24, he looks to be growing into a good full-back, who is able to support in attack and be solid in defence and his performances have clearly not gone unnoticed as he has also made 12 appearances for Wales, scoring one goal, per Transfermarkt.
He may well be a cheaper option than Cash, but he looks to be very solid, and if the Blades feel Forest want too much for their defender, then Roberts is definitely a very good alternative for the club to try and sign.
