Sheffield United played out an entertaining tie with Manchester United at Bramall Lane on Sunday afternoon that left many fans salivating at the mouth with what they had just witnessed.
John Fleck managed to bundle the ball home to give the Blades the lead in the first half before Lys Mousset put the Red Devils to the sword with an excellent finish from range beyond David de Gea.
However, the hosts saw their lead turn collapse in the space of seven minutes when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team saw Brandon Williams, Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford tip the tie completely upside down.
Heading into the final few moments, it had appeared as though Chris Wilder would be on the wrong end of the result, but Oli McBurnie came to the rescue just moments before the final whistle – although he was made to wait an age because of a VAR check (Sky Sports).
Indeed, Sheffield United played an impressive game and were, perhaps, unfortunate to have only come away with a point from the contest and not all three. However, fans were still left waxing lyrical over what they had witnessed, with one man’s performance earning his fair share of plaudits.
Fleck may have scored the opening goal of the game, however he contributed far more than just giving the Blades an early lead. According to data collected by WhoScored, the Scotland international made three key passes (with one providing an assist) despite only completing 71.1% of his attempted 46 passes. The 28-year-old also got stuck in defensively, as he made one tackle and completed two interceptions.
Fans were delighted with what they saw from the central midfielder, with many of them gushing over him on Twitter immediately following the final whistle.
Here are just some of their reactions…

Fleck was outstanding again today, what a player.— knock out (@Johnnylbox) November 24, 2019
Frustrating 10minute head loss cost us all 3 points today. John Fleck was absolutely outstanding though, Fred didn’t have a clue what was happening.

Fleck and moose superb. Moore brilliant considering he hasn’t played all season. Disappointing 10 mins we can’t switch off like that. Great attitude to get the draw. Great atmosphere blades fans #SUFC #twitterblades

Mousset came off (lets hope that’s nothing serious). But for those first 70 mins that’s the best United performance I’ve seen in my lifetime, and we didn’t even have our best CB and GK. Mousset, McGoldrick, Fleck all incredible.#twitterblades #sufc

Is this a dream? Have we really just dominated @ManUtd for 80mins? Ridiculous game! Disappointed not to get 3 points but would have taken the point before hand. Fleck is something else. Controlled that midfield #SUFC #TwitterBlades #SuperSunday

John Fleck best player on planet

Few facts that need laying out. Jack O’Connell is the best English centre half. John Fleck is the best free transfer ever. Whoever scouted out Lys Mousset deserves a statue right now.
