Sheffield United: Fans react to latest transfer news as Richairo Zivkovic signs

Sheffield United have confirmed the signing of Richairo Zivkovic from Chinese outfit Changchun Yatai (via sufc.co.uk).

The 23-year-old arrives at Bramall Lane on a six-month loan deal and the Blades have an option to make the move permanent in the summer. He becomes the second signing in as many days for the South Yorkshire outfit, following Norwegian international Sander Berge through the door.

Speaking about signing Zivkovic, manager Chris Wilder told Sheffield United’s official website: “We know enough about him, we’ve kept tabs on Richairo for a while and tracked his progress. He is a Dutch international at ages under the senior level, he’ll be unpredictable to other teams, but we know what we’re getting and he wants to make the most of the opportunity.

“He will give us genuine pace at the top of the pitch. We’re learning all the time this season, but pace in the Premier League is key and Richairo is someone we think can kick us on.”

Zivkovic began his career at FC Groningen and was highly rated in the Netherlands considering one of the biggest teams in the country moved to him. Indeed, after scoring 11 goals in 40 games there, he earned a move to Ajax but it didn’t really work out for him in Amsterdam.

He ended up going to Oostende before then moving to China in 2019. Whilst at Changchun Yatai he has rediscovered his goal-scoring touch, finding the back of the net 16 times in 25 China League One appearances (Transfermarkt).
