Chris Wilder has confirmed that Sheffield United have already opened talks with Manchester United regarding the future of goalkeeper Dean Henderson, via Sheffield Star journalist James Shield.
The 22-year-old shot-stopper is currently enjoying his second successive season on loan at Bramall Lane from the Red Devils, but it seems that Wilder is hopeful that the two clubs can come to an agreement which would see him stay on a temporary basis for another year.
Henderson has been outstanding during his stay at the Blades so far. He helped them to promotion from the Championship last season, keeping 21 clean sheets in 46 appearances (Transfermarkt) and winning the Golden Glove award (sufc.co.uk).
He has carried on that form in the Premier League too. At the time of writing, he has kept eight clean sheets which is the joint-most in the top tier alongside Ben Foster and Kasper Schmeichel (premierleague.com) and in his latest appearance against Manchester City he saved a penalty from Gabriel Jesus (Sky Sports).
One thing is for sure, the Sheffield United fans would absolutely love for Henderson to extend his stay at Bramall Lane. Indeed plenty took to Twitter after reading the news to urge the club to get a deal done. Here is what some had to say…
No question we need to keep him as long as we can. Just about taken over as best Henderson in Sheffield. pic.twitter.com/SmRBxqeo2n

That would be amazing news. Getting such a keeper for 3 seasons is unreal!

Another loan would be ideal, then we can use the PL cash to strengthen elsewhere, we are unlikely to find such quality on loan elsewhere on the pitch, need a season or 2 behind us to build up some funds and having key positions on loan will help us greatly.
