With the Premier League season coming to an end, Sheffield United will look to strengthen their squad to make sure that they can do not face more of a relegation battle next campaign.
One position they will desperately need to look at is the goalkeeper spot, as Dean Henderson will now return to parent club Manchester United. He has had a great two seasons at Bramall Lane, helping the side to promotion and then easily staying clear of the drop in the Premier League this campaign.
It was his first season ever in England’s top flight, and he did not fail to disappoint as he had the joint-third most clean sheets in the division, picking up 13 in 36 appearances and only conceded 33 goals, per Transfermarkt.
He has become a fan favourite due to his performances, and if the Blades cannot acquire him on a loan again next season, then it will be a huge loss.
Clearly the Englishman has enjoyed his team as a Blade as he posted on Instagram following their last game of the campaign at the weekend. The picture showed him and a couple of other players including Billy Sharp and Chris Basham, but it is more the message that the Blades supporters will love as he said: ‘What an unbelievable first season back in the top flight we went against all the odds!! Not just to stay up!! We should all be so proud!! I think it could have been better with the 12th man❤️ I just want to say a massive thanks to everyone at Sheffield United!! Love you bladesmen!!’
The 23 year-old will never forget his experiences at Sheffield United which have helped form become a solid Premier League player and his emotional message is likely to leave a tear in the eye of some fans who adore him for his performances over the last two years.
