Sheffield United are looking like they can get a top 10 finish in the Premier League as they currently sit ninth in the division with only five games to go, per BBC Sport.
They could now looking towards the upcoming transfer window to improve their squad and make sure that they have another strong top-flight season in 2020/21. The latest rumour shows how far they have come in a year as they have been linked with Everton ace Gylfi Sigurdsson.

According to Yorkshire Live, the attacking midfielder may be surplus to requirements at Goodison Park and the Blades are keeping tabs on the situation. However, with the Icelandic international currently on wages of £100,000 per week at Everton, he would likely see that diminish by more than 67% if he were to move to Bramall Lane.
The 30-year-old has played 107 times for the Toffees and picked up 23 goals and 14 assists, but as of late he has been in and out of the starting XI as manager Carlo Ancelotti favours a 4-4-2 formation.

This deal does not seem like it would be good signing for the Blades as they currently have plenty of central midfielders at the club and the Everton star is already 30. Therefore, if he doesn’t want to lower his wages, then Sheffield United will have to spend quite a lot on someone who might not be guaranteed to start at Bramall Lane.
The introduction of Sander Berge since he joined in January, as well as the recent good form of Ben Osborn, shows how strong the squad depth is in the middle of the park and the Blades should look to spend their money elsewhere.
Aside from Phil Jagielka, who was brought in last summer as cover on a free transfer, none of Chris Wilder’s main signings since the club were promoted have been over the age of 28, so the possible signing of Sigurdsson just doesn’t seem to fit in with their transfer policy.
