Sheffield Wednesday complete signing of experienced Norwich striker

Gary Hooper – CelticOwls punters are talking about Sheffield Wednesday after they secured an emergency loan signing of an experienced Premier League striker.

27-year-old Gary Hooper joins the Owls from Premier League side Norwich City until January 17th and will adopt the number 14 shirt and he will be reunited with fellow Norwich loanee Michael Turner at Hillsborough.

The Englishman netted 12 goals in 34 games last season as Norwich regained promotion back to the Premier League via the play-offs within a year of relegation.

However, having recently recovered from an ankle injury, Hooper has struggled to maintain a first-team place at Carrow Road this term under Alex Neil. The more recent of his two appearances was the defeat to Southampton at the end of August.

Hooper’s career has seen him accumulate 177 goals from 311 starts and the striker will no doubt be looking to make an impact at Wednesday, who are currently unbeaten in eight games and lie just four points outside of the play-off places.

However, the forward is unable to make an appearance for his new club in their League Cup fourth round tie against Arsenal on Tuesday. He is expected to make his debut for Wednesday when they face off against Nottingham Forest at home on Saturday.
