Sheffield Wednesday: Fans react as Dom Howson believes club are set to sign Izzy Brown

There is a big update on a possible signing coming to Sheffield Wednesday, and a lot of the Owls fan base are reacting to the news that Isaiah Brown is close to joining the club on loan.

Journalist for The Star Dom Howson tweeted out this update as he said the midfielder is set to sign on loan from Premier League side Chelsea. Howson said, ‘Watched a lot of Izzy Brown in the last few years. He has got great ability on the ball. Was a big player for Luton last season in their survival fight. Can see him playing just off the front 2 in GM’s 3-5-2 system.’

The reaction from this has been largely positive, Brown definitely has the potential to succeed in the Championship which is shown by his loan spell last season at Luton as he managed one goal and seven assists in 25 appearances, whilst also managing 2.1 key passes a game and 2 successful dribbles per game, via WhoScored.

His key passes would rank him second in the Wednesday squad, 0.1 behind Barry Bannan, and he would definitely add a creative spark that the club desperately need as after Bannan, the next Owls player with the most key passes was Fernando Forestieri with 1.2 and he has now left.

The 23 year-old has already racked up 190 appearances during his career, per Transfermarkt, scoring 30 and assisting 33 and this could be a very shrewd addition for Garry Monk.

Here is what fans said following the news, with one comparing it with the loan deal they did with Chelsea last year for Michael Hector, suggesting that he would impress at Hillsborough and then become too expensive to sign permanently next year.

The only negative I have on this transfer is I wish it was a prem deal not a loan. On the other hand his deal runs out next summer so if he does well and he likes it at Hillsborough we could sign for free next summer. #swfc
