Sheffield Wednesday: Fans react as Dom Howson provides positive transfer update on Dele-Bashiru

Dom Howson has provided an update on Sheffield Wednesday transfer target Fisayo Dele-Bashiru and many of the Owls fan base are reacting to the news.

According to the Yorkshire Live journalist, the deal is not done yet but Wednesday are closing in on the Man City midfielder and if the club manage to finish the final touches, it will be Garry Monk’s first permanent signing.

Dele-Bashiru only has a year left on his contract at the Premier League side and is looking to leave because he wants to play more consistent football. He has managed to rack up 69 appearances in the youth ranks at City, scoring six and assisting three, per Transfermarkt.

This is good news for the club, and the fact they look to be able to pluck a youth player from Manchester City’s set up should excite supporters as it is the same academy that has produced players like Jadon Sancho and Phil Foden. Clearly many supporters are excited as one said, ‘He seems very highly rated.. I’m just happy we are signing young talent for a change instead of old players’.

Wednesday fans should also be excited due to the fact that it will be Monk’s first permanent signing, and could be completed within a week of the transfer window opening, so it looks like there could be a fair few transfers coming to the club.

Here is what fans said following the tweet:
