‘Shocking,’ ‘Stupid statement’ - Arsenal fans lay into prominent figure after high-profile criticism

Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are in high spirits today, after a 1-0 victory over Leicester City last night kept their hopes of a top-four finish alive.

A scrappy game finished in Arsenal’s favour following an own-goal from Robert Huth, as Nacho Monreal’s shot took a major deflection off the German defender and handed the Gunners three points – putting them six behind fourth-placed Liverpool.

Big challenges now await the Gunners as they tackle Tottenham Hotspur in a North London derby this weekend, before hosting Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United the following week – two matches which could decide the top-four tussle.

In recent weeks, Arsenal have changed their tactics significantly and have enjoyed success playing with a three-man defence, but the performances of the Gunners players have not been appreciated by everyone.

Outspoken Arsenal fan Piers Morgan took to social media last night to criticise the performance of Granit Xhaka, stating the Swiss ace was a waste of money last summer, but he was met with an angry response from fellow fans.

Our landlord believes that whilst Xhaka has a lot of improving to do to become a star in the Premier League, he feels that he’s performed well in recent games.
