Our Chelsea fans here in the Transfer Tavern are expecting a huge turn around over the course of the summer, with many of the players and the manager all fighting for their careers after this disastrous defence of their Premier League crown.

Antonio Conte, it seems is on borrowed time at Stamford Bridge, with results and performances not exactly going his way, despite leading the club to a Premier League title win last season. Alongside the manager, many of the players need to up their game also, having only won four Premier League games so far this calendar year – with the general feeling around Stamford Bridge being that there needs a major revamp of the club.

Our Blues in the bar are looking at the remaining couple of games of the season as a chance for some players to really stake their claim as to why they should be at the club next season. Indeed, their first priority should be going for the FA Cup, and with their recent form since the turn of the year, this is going to be an uphill task.

Our landlord, however, takes a look at TWO players that Conte should be looking to move on in the summer…

Gary Cahill

The club captain hasn’t had the best of seasons so far at Stamford Bridge and it looks like the centre-defender is slowly being replaced by younger models in the team – namely Andreas Christensen.

The statistic that has been going around the pub for most of the season is that Chelsea are a better team without Cahill in it, and it certainly shows the tide is changing at the Bridge.

The England man has needed to up his game in the past few months of the season, though now it may seem a little too late.

David Luiz

The Brazilian has been in Conte’s bad books ever since they had a falling out in the first half of the season, it seems. Luiz second spell at Stamford Bridge hasn’t been a pleasant one recently, despite winning the title last year and completing his collection with the club.

With relations strained, this would surely signal the end of Luiz’s time at the Bridge and there doesn’t seem a way back for the Brazilian with less chance of him helping Conte to keep his job.
