…for A Christmas Carol: read, Andy Carroll. Or Are Man Utd & Spurs muppets for even considering it?
Sir Alex Ferguson has added his name to Harry Redknapp’s in the list of managers hunting the Gateshead target man and ready to test the mettle of both Alan Pardew and Mike Ashley over how much they would want and be able to keep the 21-year old striker.
Although various international clubs, including Real Madrid, have showed a slight interest in Carroll, it is doubtful that he will leave the country at this time. If only because, considering he has to live at Kevin Nolan’s house, which would be one heck of a daily commute!
As much as Alan Pardew has made it completely and totally clear that Carroll is not for sale at this time. Quoted as saying:
“Andy’s career path is here, he just has to keep working hard. We have to have a big-club mentality and hold on to our best players.”
It is much easier said than done, as much as Pardew obviously wants to keep him, strong offers in the £20m region will not only tempt Mike Ashley, but may well force his hand to sell.
Whether Fergie sees him as Berbatov’s replacement or Redknapp as Crouch’s enough in order to part with such a sum to loosen Ashley’s exit door is unknown.
What is known is the fact that both Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are queuing up to put the pressure on the Sports-Direct man to sell up.

When will this story not go away???? Listen, Carroll does not want to leave, the only way he will leave is if he is forced out of the club and even then he may leave with a heavy heart which may result in him losing form and then rotting on the bench at Spurs or Man utd. Its a crime when big clubs do that. They snatch a player away from his club then stick him on the bench, its PURE spite. This has happened to many many players. I really hope Carroll stays at his club. Man utd done it with Rooney, and it was the Everton fans that had to suffer for it and i hope it does not happen to us with Carroll. Its not fair, other fans are entitled to see quality in their team especially if they are home grown. Top clubs should back away and let the smaller clubs catch up a little.

Welcome to the Premiership. I hope you enjoy your stay, even if it is a small one.
Ashley won’t be tempted because he’s already come our & said that Carroll isn’t for sale at any price, Carroll said he isn’t leaving & if the crap-loid reporters knew anything about football, they’d know that Carroll has a 5 years contract & if he doesn’t want to go, then there’s nothing the club can do… Also I think you’ll find that Ashley is building this club up with young players, so that in a few seasons, we will be challenging the supposed top 4 team, who’ll be restricted by the new Fifa fair play rules & finance’s, that our club will once again be a force in the PL and clubs like Manc Usa & Spurts will suffer under the debt they’ve got after spending all that money on big name flops…
So watch this space, player like Carroll, Enrique, Barton, Tiote, HBA etc will take our club right to the top again… HWTL
We have no debt. We make perpetual profits. The only team whose financial stability can rival ours is ArseAnal.
spurs fan here!! cyprus toon spurs aren’t in debt! we are far from debt! but i highly doubt we will be after carroll as he has to stay at nolans and for his own development is better off at newcastle! and spurs need a forward solution NOW and would rather someone else!
Stories like this only persist with the intention of the player. Carroll has had plenty of time to come out and squash the rumors but has remained quiet.
The only way Spurs will bid for him is if they have some sort of indication that he would like to play for Spurs, and that a sale is possible by Newcastle.
Big clubs have taken more of Spur’s players in the past than Newcastle’s and its incredibly annoying to see Geordie’s cry like 11 year old girls about it when hearing of the possibility.
Champions League > No champions league. Had we not finished in the CL, Bale and Modric would’ve been bid for. That’s life. Deal with it.
Errr Andy Carroll has came out on several occasions and stated he’s happy at his club following his idols career (shearer) and is living his dream…….surely that’s what being a footballers all about……I’ve no doubt one day he will be sold while fat ash sitting in the throne but I doubt it’ll be spurs…..more likely a man utd or Chelsea in the next year or two if his progression stays as rapid……the lad is a pure breath of Fresh air when you watch him play, young hard worker, left footed and talented
In the highly unlikely of Andy Carroll ever leaving Newcastle, it would have to be for a bigger club so that rules Tottenham out of the equation.
hahahaha..Newcastle have only just come up from the Championship..big club??
I always felt that Newcastle being relegated would be a blessing for them. A way to help ground their petulant fans.
But they really are deluded. I like their team for the most part, but how in the world their fans garner a sense of entitlement as a “big club” when they have averaged 13th place over their past 5 prem seasons is absurd.
I personally don’t want Andy Carroll. I think he is overrated because he is English, has a Lord of the Rings hairstyle and has been fortunate to score goals this season. He could be a top player one day. The same once applied to Bentley, Jenas, etc etc.
Fernando Llorente is ideal for Spurs.
Carroll and Spurs is a match made in heaven which is why we have to get him in on January 1st.
I am sympathetic to the Newcastle fans. If I was a barcode I would be desperate to keep him and explain every reason I could think of to justify it.
But the Spurs attack is crying out for a Carroll type. He is young and English like so many of our side. Imagine Carroll up top with Bale/Lennon on the wings and Modric/VDV/Hudd feeding him too as well as the delivery from our full backs with the most attack minded manager around. Carroll would score in every game at Spurs and have a chance to play in the CL and challenge for the title… plyers have moved clubs for a lot less reasons than that !
Ask any neutral fan and they all say NUFC are the biggest under achievers ever. All clubs anywhere near the top or middle of the league have at some time had a golden time of trophies and success but what exactly have NUFC ever won.Andy Carroll has potential and may become a good player one day but NUFC have Ashley who will continue to hamper their chances. In the meantime NUFC will continue to be used as a feeder club to others in the prem and it is a sad fact of life but true none the less and the toon fans will continue to lose out under Ashley, and their calling of other clubs as small clubs will be seen for the hurt they continue to suffer as fans of the biggest under achievers in british football.
Two things . Firstly if Man Utd sign Carroll that completely changes the way in which they traditionally play. Secondly “Steve Mac” Tottenham have twice the fan base as Newcastle and during my lifetime Spurs have won 14 trophies and Newcastle 1……1!!!!!!!!!!!.
